In the Shop
The Museum Shop at NEQM has a varied collection of fine gifts,
books, fabrics and notions that will delight any quilt lover. Museum
admission is not required to shop in our store and museum members
receive a 10% discount on their purchases.
Check out the delightful “Tie Bags” as featured in the Lowell SUN
weekend magazine. These bags, $25 each, are made from “upcycled”
men’s ties embellished with fancy buttons or old brooches for
closing.
Always available at the NEQM shop are all the materials you need to
do Japanese Sashiko embroidery. And our shop is known for the lovely
Japanese fabrics we stock--with new ones arriving this month!
There are still fabrics available from the New England Quilt
Museum’s Regency line created with Marcus Brothers, as well as the
newer Merrimack line: choose from kits to create a “Mill Wheel”
pattern quilt, or fat quarters and jelly rolls.
Introducing The Merrimack Collection from Marcus Fabrics!
The Merrimack Collection is the museum’s second fabric series to
result from collaboration with Marcus Fabrics. Judy Rothermel has
again designed a line of fabrics that feature stunning stripes,
geometrics and paisley motifs based on 1850’s quilts from the
museum’s permanent collection in a wide range of colors: chocolate
browns, rusty reds, greens and plums. Dating back to the middle of
the nineteenth century they reflect the historic region of Merrimack
Valley the present-day location of the museum itself.
10-yard bolts of all 28 fabrics in the collection, charm square
and fat quarter packs are now in stock. Queensize
quilt kits will be available shortly.

Mary Ellen Latino
is a passionate fiber artist who enjoys bold
colors, texture and movement. Nature
and African and Asian textiles greatly
influence her creative process. Beginning with a
blank natural cloth, she alters it through many
techniques such as dye, shibori, wax resist, screen
print, monoprint and discharge. She has exhibited
her work throughout the U.S. at
venues such as the Brush Gallery, New England Quilt
Museum, 13 Moons Gallery in Santa Fe, NM to name a
few. She believes that if
one unleashes their spirit and soul, the creative
process can soar.

For
quilters, a visit to the New England Quilt Museum Gift Shop is like
a trip to the candy store. The NEQM shop boasts one of the best
collections of books and magazines for quilters in the country.
Quilters love the latest books as well as old favorites. You will
find everything from traditional and contemporary patterns and techniques
to quilt history and humor; one special book is New England Quilt
Museum Quilts by our former director, Jennifer Gilbert. Starting with a
history of the Mill Girls who worked in Lowell, Gilbert gives an
overview of the history of quilt making in New England using beautiful
examples from our permanent collection. Included are five patterns
to inspire readers to make heirloom quilts for themselves. This
book can be ordered from the shop for $22.95 plus $4.00
shipping (MASS residents add 5% sales tax) by printing out
the book order form and sending
it with your payment as directed on the form. Contact
