NEQM COLLECTION CARE FUND

Picture
Thankful Hall Miller [1798-1864]
Help enlarge and care for the museum's Permanent Collection.

Make a donation to help acquire noteworthy pieces that may become available only for purchase (rather than by the preferred route of quilt donation). Be a contributor and ensure that the New England Quilt Museum continues to be a pre-eminent force in the study, preservation and promotion of this very American art form.

THANKFUL HALL MILLER QUILT
Our first target when the Collection Care Fund was created in 2012 was to acquire and conserve a recently discovered 19th century quilt by Thankful Hall Miller [pictured above left].

The museum already owns nine pieces made by Thankful and her descendants. This extraordinary family history is one of the great stories of American quiltmaking. For more information on Thankful Hall Miller and her family's quilts in the Permanent Collection, visit our Blog page.

We are delighted to announce that as of May 2012, we had raised the funds to purchase the quilt. Thank you to all who contributed!

We still have a long way to go before this historic piece can be displayed
, however. The quilt is now in our possession but shows significant wear problems that must be addressed before it can be exhibited safely.

Help us conserve this treasure and all the others in our Permanent Collection so that they can be enjoyed by generations of quilt-lovers to come. Thanks for your support!
