Massachusetts Cultural Council Awards New England Quilt Museum a $77,000 MATCHING Grant
Our historic 164-year-old building, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, is showing its age. Years of deferred maintenance have caught up with us: our fire safety system is outdated; our “green” geothermal heating system needs reworking; and the lovely decorative copper work on the roof of the building is disintegrating, falling off, and threatening pedestrians below.
The Massachusetts Cultural Council, recognizing the seriousness of our problems, has awarded us a Cultural Facilities Grant Matching Grant. BUT--
We must raise $77,000 to match this grant by November 2010!
A Lead Gift of $25,000 has already been received with its own “match- within-the-match” to past and present NEQM Board of Directors. That means we are turning to you--our friends, members, volunteers, guilds, and visitors—to donate $27,000 to help us meet the total match.
Recognizing that we depend on your support for our annual operating expenses, we ask you to also consider helping us with this one-time request to preserve the 1845 structure that houses our collections.
Your donation in any amount is greatly appreciated. Please make checks to “The NEQM Matching Grant Fund.”
